Rockrun is a modern successor to Boulder Dash where the tiles are gone: every boulder, gem, dirt block, wall and the player itself is a real Box2D body. Boulders roll off each other, dirt collapses, and a rock moving fast enough will crush you.
Underneath sits Norx, my Nim wrapper for the ORX game engine. The levels are generated by a script and validated for structural soundness, and the textures are generated procedurally too, so the whole thing rebuilds from source.
- Real physics gameplay — sphere dynamics for boulders, a solid dirt lattice, and force-based pushing.
- Local co-op for 1–4 players — join in the lobby, dig towards a shared quota.
- Two-tier sand subdivision — coarse blocks split into fine ones near the player, so digging is precise without paying for detail everywhere.
- Classic hazards — fireflies and butterflies hug walls and kill on touch, until a falling boulder turns one into diamonds.
