Flatout came out of a simple observation: AI app builders made UI generation easy, and left backend correctness untouched. Business rules, state machines, security, persistence and integrations are still underspecified and under-tested in generated applications.
Flatout is the correctness layer. It generates backend APIs from approved specs, verifies them, and exposes them over standard REST/OpenAPI and MCP so any UI tool can discover and call what was generated. It is spec-first, self-testing and local-first, with a Wails desktop app, a stateless control-plane server and an agent execution runner.
- Spec-first — the spec is the source of truth, and the generated API proves it matches.
- Self-testing — generated endpoints come with generated verification.
- MCP-native — the generated API is discoverable and callable from any UI tool.
- Local-first — sensitive data stays on your machine, encrypted at rest; the server keeps only control-plane metadata.
