OOPSLA 2007 - Squeak BOF

(updated with 3rd tape)

It is that time again - OOPSLA - the greatest OO conference on earth. :)

Writing this I am listening to the last keynotes here and I am busy uploading movies we have recorded from the BOFs (Bird Of a Feather sessions).

The first BOF was on monday, 3 days ago, and there are three movies. The movies have been encoded into two ~780Mb XviD movies (and one half that size) with reasonable quality IMHO. In the latter BOFs (coming later) we tried to be closer to the projector to see details better.

The first tape (available as a torrent) contains:

  1. (0->17:20) A short introduction to CAT, a new parser framework by Jamie Douglas.
  2. (17:20->1:02:30, end) An improvised presentation and demonstration of the OLPC XO machine by Bert Freudenberg with some assistance from Yoshiki Ohshima, also 40 seconds on the next tape. :)

The second tape (available as a torrent) contains:

  1. 40 seconds of "after talk" with Bert on the OLPC machine.
  2. (01:20->04:00) A quick offer to buy the SqueakByExample book, Squeak pins etc by Andrew Black.
  3. (04:00->41:30) A presentation and short demo of DeltaStreams - a new mechanism for dealing with code in Squeak.
  4. (41:30->1:02:07) A demonstration of OMeta by Alessandro Warth (also presented at the colocated DLS event).

The third tape (available as a torrent) contains:

  1. A new scheme for changes/sources files and an online archive by Maurice Rabb.
  2. Athena Smalltalk by Alexandre Bergel.

Enjoy!
